Brooke Elizabeth Rodgers
Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 7:42PM Brooke is about 20 minutes old here, and yes, she really is this happy! She is soooo chill! It gives me (Loren), Betsy, and Ethan great joy to announce the birth of Brooke Elizabeth Rodgers, our beautiful new baby girl!
After 28 hours of various stages of labor, Brooke was born at 11:18 am on Wednesday, September 2nd, at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, by Cesarean section. She weighs 7 lbs, 13 oz, and she is 20 inches long. She has gray-blue eyes, and dark brown hair like her Mommy. While I am flattered by comments that Ethan takes after my features, I'm thrilled that Brook walks in Betsy's shoes. Her hair. Her face. The fact that she was actually early to an appointment (her due date was Saturday). We're praising God for her healthy arrival!
Below are some of her first photos. More to come. Lots more ;) Check out rodgers.phanfare.com for the next, say, 50 years, to see more. I'll put up a Phanfare gallery with a few more shots from Brooke's birth, and I plan to continue this as a "100 days project" (a photo a day for the first 100 days), just like we did for Ethan.
Enjoy, and thanks for all the wonderful comments on Facebook!
Oh, and I'll post some procrastinated maternity photos on my blog. Very procrastinated. I mean, shooting in-between-contractions procrastinated. Literally.
Well, Brooke is usually happy. But cute nonetheless!
Mommy meets Brooke.
Daddy wakes up with a sleepy girl.
Poppy (Betsy's Mom) meets Brooke. Pop was there too, running the video comera (video to be posted soon!).
